Get the total character/word count of a document

The script adds vertical rules (left border) to selected paragraphs. Of the several methods suggested in a thread on Adobe's InDesign forum -- paragraph rule, dropcap on pipe symbol, placing paragraphs in a table cell, graphic rule in an anchored frame -- the latter seemed the most flexible and manageable.

А я просто ручками ставлю многоточие в нужном месте, которому также присваиваю 1% ширины и цвет None. И всему, что до многоточия (включительно), присваиваю пустой символьный стиль "Колонтитул". Text Variable при этом будет типа Running Header (Character Style)

There are many features in InDesign CS6 to get excited about: the phenomenal ability create PDF form fields; the almost magical way you can set up objects on your page to move around when the page size changes; the option to export grayscale PDF files. Whenever people ask if they can create endnotes in InDesign, I have to explain the same sad story. No, InDesign has footnotes not endnotes, but you can download a plug-in . . . Now, thanks to Peter Gold’s comment in the InDesign user forum, I have a much better answer. While InDesign still doesn’t have an Endnotes feature, it’s easy to create endnotes in InDesign CS4 or CS5 by using cross-references.

Select the object to be clipped and choose Edit > Cut. Select the clipping frame and choose Edit > Paste Into...

One great reason to use InDesign is that you can’t choose Zapf Dingbats italic, or Symbol bold. Those fonts don’t really exist (at least not in the files on my computer), so I can’t select them. Well, sometimes you just neeeed to make it a little more bold, or a bit more oblique (skewed). Please don’t tell anyone you heard it from me, but you can fake these effects in InDesign.

Creat a new character style. Call it No Break. Leave EVERYTHING in the dialog blank except go to the Basic Character Formats section and put a solid check mark in the No Break box at the bottom.
Set search expression to '.{10}\r' in GREP Styles and apply No Break style.

The Adobe InDesign Calendar Wizard is a javascript extension to Adobe InDesign to automatically generate calendars. The first release was published on March 12, 2006. It has been downloaded over 75,000 times by users world wide.

There are lots of ways to spec a new color swatch in InDesign, but they’re all based on RGB, CMYK, Lab, or a color library such as Pantone or Trumatch. Many folks brought up with HTML find it helpful to spec colors in hex code (such as #41bbac) or using standard HTML color names (such as red, purple, or darksalmon). If you’re into those kinds of colors, you’re going to love this new, free add-on from in-tools.com called ?CreateHexSwatch.

CreateHexSwatch is technically a “start-up script,” which means it shows up as an actual menu command, not in the Scripts panel. It works with InDesign CS3, CS4, or CS5. It comes with an mxp installer which works in CS5, or — if you’re using CS4 or CS3 — you can simply drag the “?CreateHexSwatch” folder into your Scripts folder (inside your InDesign application folder).

This script changes the drive letter in path names, has an option to relink all or only missing links. Works only on Windows.
