After 10 months, 17 rounds of patch and review, and two last-minute corrections, bug 83265 has landed. Firefox 3 will include an option to block timed redirects (a.k.a. META refresh tags). By default, Firefox 3 will act like Firefox 2, i.e. it will respect META refresh tags as it always has. But now the end user will have the option to block them:

Sometimes you need to convert from one encoding to another because your application can only read certain data encoded in a certain way. NIX systems (Linux and UNIX) comes with a command line program called iconv that can be used to convert from one text encoding to another easily.

UrlCorrector исправляет интернет адреса из вида цццюпщщпдуюсщь в www.google.com. То есть переключать и проверять раскладку клавиатуры получается реже. Просто маленькая удобная возможность. Делает он это на лету, то есть русский текст в адресной строке не появляется, а появляется сразу английский. Вот и всё.
