iTunes 8 was released today (well yesterday, but who’s counting?) with new features like Genius sidebar/playlists, HD TV show and a new visualiser. (wow :rolleyes: )
However, they have removed two of the UI options I used, namely hiding the genre in the browser and links to the iTunes store. I don’t find browsing by genre useful; only a handful of my songs have genre tags. I’ve never thought to myself “Self, I really wish I could browse for a specific genre.” Add to that you are limited add one genre to a particular song and for me at least they are completely pointless (tags, on the other hand, would be awesome ;) )

Remember when you used to buy film, and it came in different “speeds” — ISO 200, 400, 800, and so on? Well, those numbers indicate the film’s sensitivity to light; the rating system was devised by the International Standards Organization, thus the ISO abbreviation. The higher the number, the “faster” the film, meaning less light is needed to expose the picture. So a high ISO film lets you use a smaller aperture (higher f-stop setting) or faster shutter speed than if you use a low ISO film. (If that last sentence sounded like gibberish, check out my previous posts, which provide the fundamentals of exposure.)

Remove tabs on the left/right side of selected one.

This provides features to handle multiple tabs at once, for example, close them, reload them, and so on. When you press the mouse button and drag over tabs (you should wait a while to start drag after you press down the button!), they are selected. After you release the button, the popup to choose command will be shown. Of course, you can toggle selection by Ctrl-click on each tab and call features from the context menu. Blue Velvet, that does work...but it is touch and go on different presses. But, here is the cool thing...this is a new feature of CS3. Go to Object > Effects > Gradient Feather. In Windows Vista you might be annoyed by having to resize and move windows since they keep forgetting the size and location.
Here is the tip. Hold down the CTRL key and close the window. Next time you open Explorer (Computer) it will remember the size and location. The same works for other windows like Control Panel, User Accounts, Help and Support and many more.

One of the long-awaited features in Windows Vista was the ability to use symbolic links, the way you can in linux. Sadly, they don't work quite as well as they could, but it's a big upgrade from prior versions, and has solved a number of problems for me already.
