Fornisce - inizialmente su dichiarazione dell'editore, poi con la "certificazione" tramite apposite societa' di tali dati - indicazioni precise sulle copie tirate, quelle vendute in edicola, quelle inviate in abbonamento, quelle omaggiate, le rese, e cosi' via. E' ovviamente un notevole strumento di lavoro per chi - acquistando gli spazi - deve sapere su quante copie il suo annuncio verra' effettivamente diffuso. Si potrebbe riassuntivamente dire che l'analisi ADS e' principalmente quantitativa (mentre l'Audipress e' principalmente qualitativa).

В настоящей статье предпринята попытка обзора истории русского Интернета с 1990 по 1999 год. Значимость событий, отраженных в обзоре, определялась отчасти по количеству их упоминаний в прессе (и качеству их оценки), отчасти исходя из интуитивного видения автора. Основное внимание уделено содержательной стороне русского Интернета (контент-проектам и сервисам). Факты, касающиеся развития технологии и инфраструктуры Сети, а также данные статистического характера приводятся избирательно. В целях сокращения объема публикации был избран гибридный способ подачи материала: хронологический принцип (летопись событий) совмещен с принципом энциклопедическим (после первого упоминания проекта кратко описывается его дальнейшая история).

В сборник вошли статьи, опубликованные в электронной и бумажной прессе в период с осени 1996 по конец 1999 и посвященные различным аспектам сетевой культуры. Основные критерии отбора были таковы: проблемность, широкий охват материала, хороший стиль. Несмотря на теоретический характер многих материалов, "исторический подход" при чтении (т.е. учет времени написания текста) весьма полезен. Будучи первой попыткой дать систематический обзор основных проблем киберкультуры в России, книга не свободна от явных недостатков, к которым относятся прежде всего тематические лакуны и разностильность. Тем не менее, хочется надеяться, что настоящий труд поможет читателю глубже понять существующие в электронной среде реалии, а в плане теоретическом будет способствовать выработке общего языка описания и концептуальных стратегий. Помимо прочего, сборник можно рассматривать в качестве хрестоматии по русской сетевой журналистике.

However, the newspaper's ability to address the flow of information, combined with its acceptance of reader participation, will determine its future success as a viable means of branding a flow of information.

Like most Internet users, I get a lot of news from web sites: whether newspapers, magazines or TV channels, the main purveyors of information are the leading media brands. I read the New York Times, the Washington Post, Le Monde, along with other media web sites, and subscribe to RSS feeds for dozens of others. (And that’s just for “hard” news, not for tech-related subjects.)
